Kerckhaert Kings Plates race into the New Year

Racing certainly doesn’t slow down over the festive period or the indeed the winter months and the Stromsholm team have enjoyed following so many Kerckhaert shod winners to success on the race track.

We warmly congratulate -  

  • Tom Bougourd and Dan Hubbard who shoe Diamond Dollars, trained by Paul Nicholls. Diamond Dollars won the Henry VIII Novices' Chase for Paul Nicholls wearing Kerckhaert Kings Super Sound Race Plates.
  • Chapel Forge Farriers who shoe Altior. Trained by Nicky Henderson, Altior surged clear to win the Tingle Creek Chase wearing Kerckhaert Kings Extra Sound Race Plates and Liberty Nails.
  • John Benfield and team who shoe Bristol De Mai who successfully won The Betfair Chase again for trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies. Bristol De Mai was wearing Kerckhaert Kings Extra Sound Race Plates and Liberty FJ1 Nails.
  • Nick Quinlan who is farrier to Paisley Park, trained by Emma Lavelle. Paisley Park won the Long Walk Hurdle (Group 1) wearing Kings Super Sound Race Plates.
  • Chapel Forge Farriers who shoe La Baue Au Roi for trainer Warren Greatrex. La Bague Au Roi won the Kauto Star Novices' Chase (Group 1) wearing Kings Extra Sound with Liberty Nails.
  • Chapel Forge Farriers who shoe Verdana Blue, winner of the Christmas Hurdle (Group 1). Trained by Nicky Henderson, Verdana Blue was wearing Kings Extra Sound with Liberty Nails.
  • Tom Bougourd and Dan Hubbard who shoe Clan Des Obeaux. Clan Des Obeaux secured a win in the King George VI Chase (Group 1) wearing Kings Super Sound Race Plates for trainer Paul Nicholls.
  • Tom Bougourd and Dan Hubbard who shoe Quel Destin who bravely won the Finale Juvenile Hurdle (Group 1). Trained by Paul Nicholls, Quel Destin was wearing Kings Super Sound Race Plates.
  • Chapel Forge Farriers who shoe Champ, the winner of the Challow Novices' Hurdle (Group 1) for trainer Nicky Henderson. Champ was wearing Kings Extra Sound with Liberty Nails.
  • Chapel Forge Farriers who shoe Altior who clocked up a 17th straight win after securing the Clarence House Chase at Ascot. Altior, trained by Nicky Henderson was wearing Kerckhaert Kings Extra Sound Race Plates and Liberty Nails.

We are eagerly anticipating the highlight of the National Hunt Calendar that is the Cheltenham Festival and will be cheering on our farriers!

 

Championship Update

At the time of writing the Championships Leaders are -

  • Dan Skelton (farrier Ian (Spud) Allison), Paul Nicholls (farriers Tom Bougourd and Dan Hubbard) Nicky Henderson (farrier Chapel Forge Farriers) and Philip Hobbs (farrier Ben Parker) are currently in the National Hunt Championship Top Five
  • Michael Appleby (farrier Ed Dodd), David O’Meara (farrier Richard Elkins) are currently in the Flat Racing Championship Top Five

 

The Stromsholm Kings Plate Competition follows both National Hunt and Flat racing horses and coincides with the Trainers Championships, with the winning farriers using Kings Plates in the yards accruing the most the prize money.
