Next Course dates: 17th - 18th October & 6th December 2019
Course cost £650
Venue – Rural Crafts Centre, Holme Lacy Campus, Hereford, HR2 6LL
The course is set up for ATFs to come together to gain the skills to support their apprentices whilst they are in their employment. This course is ideal for the ATF who will gain an initial teacher training qualification. The group will consist of you and other ATFs who will focus on the training of Farriery apprentices. The course is accredited and certificated by Pearson.
You will spend two days 9am and 4.00pm getting to grips with basic teaching and learning techniques that you can apply with your Apprentice Farriers. Tutors are friendly and approachable.
Your third day will be spent taking part in a 20 minute micro teach and watching your peers. This is not as daunting as you might think and is actually a lot of fun. We have a demo forge and equine yard at your disposal as well as the normal classrooms.
Assessment is via a portfolio of evidence that you provide both in college and whilst in your own working environment. Observations of the micro teach is assessed by your tutors and your peers.
During the course you will be provided with a folder and refreshments so you just need to bring a pen and yourself. Many people find their own laptop or tablet useful too. Smart phones for taking photos are also useful tools.
Please submit an online application form via the college’s website www.hlcollege.ac.uk using the “Short Course” application form. Alternatively please contact our Admissions team 0800 032 1986 or firstname.lastname@example.org who will send you a form via email or post. We look forward to meeting you at Herefordshire & Ludlow College
