David Mitchell BSc (Hons) FWCF – ‘Vet Mock X-ray Exam’

David Mitchell started out as a blacksmith working from a forge in Chiddingfold.  From time to time local farriers by the names of Robert Trimmer RSS and Edgar Stern FWCF MBE would stop by for tea and through their friendly chat they inspired his interest in farriery.

In 1998 David started his apprenticeship with Andy Tolladay AWCF, passing his Diploma and qualifying in September 2002, and then going on to set up his own successful practice.

Through the love of his profession and his thirst for knowledge, David went on to enrol for his foundation degree course in 2006 achieving FdSc with Merit.  In 2009 he then became an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (AWCF) and then continuing on to gain a BSc (Hons) and 2:1 in Farriery Science.  David then achieved FWCF in 2012 and was made Master Farrier in the same year.

Working with a variety of horses including 4* eventers, showjumpers, dressage, polo, driving, heavy horses, riding school and gymkhana ponies David also takes referrals from many veterinary practices including Liphook Equine Hospital and also The Arundel Equine Hospital.  He has also written and had published technical articles for The Forge Magazine.
